Barbados officially became a republic on Tuesday, ending nearly 400 years of British rule.

The island’s most famous citizen, Rihanna, was on hand to witness the celebration, which formally cut ties with Queen Elizabeth II. It took place in Barbados’ capital, Bridgetown, where a young Robyn Fenty was raised before she moved to the U.S. to pursue a music career.

During the ceremony, the newly-independent country swore in its first president, Sandra Mason, while Rihanna was declared a National Hero. Prime Minister Mia Mottley honored the billionaire pop star for commanding “the imagination of the world” with her excellence, creativity, discipline and, “above all else, her extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth,” according to The New York Times.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation by your works, by your actions,” said Mottley in a nod to Rihanna’s 2012 hit “Diamonds.”

Rihanna is only the 11th person to receive this honor and the second woman.

“This is a day that I would never ever forget, it’s also a day that I never saw coming,” she said while celebrating her Caribbean roots. “Barbadians are proud people. We are probably the proudest people I know. And no matter where I go in the world, I take that pride with me. No matter where we go, the world is gonna know that we Bajan to the bone.”

She continued, “I’m so proud to be a Bajan. I’m gonna be a Bajan till the day I die. This is still the only place I’ve ever called home. I love Barbados. I love you guys and I pray that the youth continue to push Barbados forward.”

A humbled Rihanna also addressed the Prime Minister. “I have traveled the world and received several awards and recognitions, but nothing compares to being recognized in the soil that you grew in, so I thank you so much for this.”

Britain’s Prince Charles was also in attendance to receive the Order of Freedom of Barbados.

Key Glock is keeping Young Dolph close to him.

Less than two weeks after his death, the rapper revealed a new tattoo in honor of his late cousin. The tat features a portrait of Dolph’s face and covers up the majority of his left forearm.

“When they see me, they see you!!” wrote Glock.

In the days after Dolph’s murder, a heartbroken Glock paid tribute to his frequent collaborator with an emotional message.

“damn bro, im LOST my heart is torn my brain bout to explode it HURTS when I breathe..why you leave me so soon?? Key Glock was signed to Dolph’s Paper Route Empire label. In 2019, he and Dolph released their collaborative album Dum and Dummer, which was followed by the sequel, Dum and Dummer 2, in March of this year.

Dolph was shot and killed when gunmen opened fire on him at a Memphis bakery on Nov. 17. He was 36. Police are investigating and have located the getaway vehicle that was spotted at the murder scene.

Beyoncé roams the “Halls of Ivy” in her latest Ivy Park x adidas drop.

The fifth collection between Ivy Park and Adidas arrives right in time for the holidays and was created to “unite all people, regardless of background, color or creed, while celebrating each individual’s creativity,” according to WWD.

In the accompanying video, soundtracked by Blackway’s “It Feel Good to Be Me,” Bey struts through a wood-paneled mansion while decked out in collegiate-inspired looks. Bey’s own daughters, Blue Ivy, 9, and Rumi, 4, steal the spotlight in houndstooth outfits that match their mother.

NBA stars James Harden and Jalen Green also make appearances, along with Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s daughter, Natalia, and Ryan Phillippe’s and Reese Witherspoon’s children, Ava and Deacon Phillippe.

Bey describes the collection as a “figurative space that is somewhere between where you are now, and where you aspire to be. Described by some as a club, others as a collective, Halls of Ivy is a boundless, unconfined place where everyone is welcome.”

The collection includes 89 apparel pieces, 11 accessories, and four footwear styles, with prices ranging from $45 to $600.

Halls of Ivy will be available for 24 hours on adidas.com on Dec. 9 before being released globally on Dec. 10.

Travis Scott’s offer to cover burial costs for those killed at Astroworld has been rejected by the festival’s youngest victim.

The family of 9-year-old Ezra Blount has declined the rapper’s offer to cover his funeral expenses. Blount was allegedly trampled at the Houston concert, and later died from his injuries. In a letter obtained by Rolling Stone, the family’s attorney turned down the offer while likening Ezra’s death to “a faucet of unimaginable pain that has no off handle.”

“Your client’s offer is declined. I have no doubt Mr. Scott feels remorse. His journey ahead will be painful. He must face and hopefully see that he bears some of the responsibility for this tragedy,” wrote Blount family lawyer Bob Hilliard.

“There may be, and I hope there is, redemption and growth for him on the other side of what this painful process will be — and perhaps one day, once time allows some healing for the victims and acceptance of responsibility by Mr. Scott and others, Treston and Mr. Scott might meet, as there is also healing in that,” Hilliard added.

Ezra was laid to rest on Nov. 23 at a funeral in Texas. His family has filed suit against Travis and Live Nation, accusing them of gross negligence.

Hilliard said Scott’s camp previously reached out about setting up an in-person meeting. “We were pretty firm. With all due respect, no. This isn’t a photo-op story here. This is a ‘who’s responsible and why’ type of investigation. And he’s on the short list,” Hilliard said of Scott.

The rejection came after Travis’ attorney, Daniel Petrocelli—who represented Ron Goldman’s family in the wrongful death lawsuit against O.J. Simpson—reached out on behalf of his client.

“Travis is devastated by the tragedy that occurred at the Astroworld Festival and grieves for the families whose loved ones died or were injured. Travis is committed to doing his part to help the families who have suffered and begin the long process of healing in the Houston community. Toward that end, Travis would like to pay for the funeral expenses for Mr. Blount’s son,” Petrocelli wrote.

Ezra was being carried on the shoulders of his father, Treston Blount, when the two became trapped in the deadly crowd surge that started shortly after Travis took the stage during the Nov. 5 festival, which claimed the lives of 10 people and injured hundreds more.

In the wake of the tragedy, Megan Thee Stallion has canceled a Friday concert in her hometown out of respect for the victims.

“Out of respect for the lives lost in Houston earlier this month, I have decided to cancel my show at 713 Music Hall on Dec 3,” she said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle. “Houston is still healing and it’s important that our community be given the appropriate time to grieve. My heart goes out to all the families that are suffering during this difficult time.”

It’s over for Common and Tiffany Haddish.

The couple has called it quits after a year together. According to PEOPLE, they broke up because it was too hard to maintain their long-distance relationship.

“They are never in the same city together and both of them are just too busy for a serious relationship,” the source says.

Their breakup comes over a year after Haddish confirmed she and Common were dating after first meeting on set of their 2019 film The Kitchen. The two went on a virtual date before their quarantine romance turned into more.

“This is hands down the best relationship I’ve ever been in,” she told “Steve-O’s Wild Ride!” podcast. “I’ve lost 20 pounds since I’ve been in this relationship. I feel more confident in me and it’s not him that’s doing it.”

Haddish continued to gush about the Grammy-winning rapper. “I’m just way happier and it’s like knowing I got somebody that cares about me, that really has my back. It seems like he does anyways. And I love it. I love him.”

In turn, Common credited the comedian and actress for bringing out the best in him. “It’s about really just being in a relationship where you can grow and you really support each other’s purpose and vision,” he told PEOPLE. “I’m making you better, you’re making me better.”

Prior to dating Common, Haddish was married to her ex-husband William Stewart. Common has a daughter Omoye Lynn, 24, with his ex-girlfriend, Kim Jones.

Trey Songz is being investigated for sexual assault.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is currently looking into claims of a sexual assault incident that occurred at The Cosmopolitan, reports TMZ. It’s unclear what day the alleged assault occurred, but the police report was filed on Sunday.

On Saturday night, the singer celebrated his 37th birthday at Drai’s Nightclub. A source at the hotel says Trey and his crew brought a group of women back to the hotel from the club before things allegedly took a turn.

Trey is reportedly cooperating with the investigation and no arrests have been made.

This is the latest drama involving the singer. Earlier this year, he was sued for battery by a bartender, who claims Trey punched him in the head during Cardi B’s Fashion Nova launch party in May 2019.

Back in January 2020, Trey was arrested following an altercation with a police officer at an NFL playoff game in Kansas City. However, the prosecution decided not to file charges against him due to insufficient evidence.

Mary J. Blige is ready to share her world once again.

The R&B icon has been hard at work on her first album in over four years. During her appearance on “Tamron Hall” on Monday, she opened up about learning to fully love and accept herself amid the “darkest moments” of her life.

Her experiences of the past several years, including her divorce, have inspired the project, which follows 2017’s Strength of a Woman.

“Wait till you hear it, it’s gonna blow everybody’s mind,” she said. “And it’s because it’s something I had to do, and something I had to say when I was in my darkest, darkest moments in that life, to build myself up to this person that I can see and accept my nose, accept my eyes, accept my cheeks, accept all the things that I used to hate.”

She has learned to accept her flaws and all, and has never felt better. “When I wake up with no hair and makeup, I’m accepting that chick that goes to the bathroom and I like her,” she revealed. “I hang out with myself a lot. I’m my own best friend.”

The Oscar-nominated actress, who plays Monet Tejada on Starz’s “Power Book II: Ghost,” also discussed her high-profile divorce from Kendu Isaacs, which was finalized in 2018.

“I just kept moving and I didn’t get bitter,” she said of the tumultuous time. “I was upset…I just let God take the wheel and do his thing because If I had done anything it would have been a disaster.”

In February, the 50-year-old superstar will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar.

“That’s a big stage, that’s the whole world really watching,” she told ET. “Just be beautiful and strong and courageous, and give the world what they need with that little bit of time I have.”

Ari Lennox was arrested in Amsterdam on Monday for disturbing public order.

According to Dutch military police, who run security for Amsterdam Schiphol airport, the R&B singer accused airline staff of racial discrimination.

“They’re arresting me,” tweeted Lennox. “I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.”

Lennox continued to tweet about her experience. “F**k Amsterdam security. They hate black people,” she wrote.

Dutch military police tell Reuters that Lennox was taken into custody because of her aggressive behavior towards an airline official, and for being drunk in public.

“Our unit found a woman full of emotions, that wouldn’t calm down,” spokesman Robert van Kapel said. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”

In a since-deleted tweet, Lennox shared a photo of the woman was allegedly profiled her.

“Racism. Wow Amsterdam I’m horrified. I was so happy to travel and this evil woman… I’ve never experienced racism so blatant,” she said.

Police are investigating claims of possible threats made by Lennox during the incident. It’s unclear how long she will remain in custody.

“I just want to go home. I’ll never leave my house again,” she told her followers.

Lennox performed twice at the 2021 Soul Train Awards, which aired Sunday. She delivered her single “Pressure” and teamed up with Summer Walker for their collaboration “Unloyal.”

Saweetie and Lil Baby had the rumor mill in overdrive over the holiday weekend.

Last week, it was reported that the two were getting cozy after Lil Baby spent $100,000 on Saweetie during a shopping spree in New York.

Saweetie fueled the romance rumors by sharing an “icy dump” on Instagram, which included a video of her shopping at the Louis Vuitton store and a photo of a Chanel purse. Her last slide was a selfie she took while seated in an unidentified man’s lap.

It wasn’t long before fans identified the mystery man as Lil Baby by matching his outfit in Saweetie’s pic to one of his recent selfies.

Amid the romance rumors, Baby announced on Thanksgiving that he was single. “Baby not dating NO ONE !! I’m Single !” he tweeted. However, the tweet was later deleted.

Saweetie’s ex Quavo decided to weigh in on the rumors while seemingly referencing Baby’s ex Jayda Cheaves.

“Ain’t trippin we can swap it out!” he wrote on his Instagram Stories, prompting Jayda to “like” the repost on The Shade Room.

Baby reacted with a couple since-deleted tweets. “Bitches really be weird !!” he wrote. “If you want clout use BABY.”

Saweetie has since deleted the selfie with the mystery man from her IG slideshow.

The “Icy Chain” rapper has not addressed the rumors, but prior to all this, she declared her single status and shared her desire to become a mom.

“I want a baby,” she told Power 105.1. “I don’t have a man… I’m just ready. I’m getting older and I want a baby. I want to pop that sh*t out and I want to snap right back.”
